Tell us how your summer training is going?

This summer I cross trained to stay in shape. I kept up running so I could make an easy transition into preseason but I also included other workouts to keep my legs fresh. I swam with my team most days and twice a week, I fit in some cycling. It's worked out well and I'm ready to run!

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

My ultimate goal is to get well under 19 minutes for the 5k. I hope to also place well at the championship meets.

Will you be competing anywhere out of state this season?

None of our scheduled meets bring us out of state. But if the planets align, I may be able to compete at New Englands. (Fingers crossed)

What is your favorite cross country race so far in your high school career ?

When I think of my favorite XC race, I go back to freshman year when I won the freshman race at FOC. It was unexpected and that's what made it so great.

Give an example of some of the "fun" stuff your team does together.

Pasta parties. What could be better than hanging out with your teammates the night before a meet and loading up on carbs at the same time?

What shoes do you race/train in?

For trainers, I just switched from Asics to the Brooks Launch 3. For racing I use New Balance spikes.

What is your favorite pre-race meal?

Maybe I'm weird but I don't have a set prerace meal. I do like pasta the night before though.

What was your favorite Olympic Moment in Rio?

As a swimmer, I have to go with Katie Ledecky crushing the 800 free and the world record that went with it.

What professional athlete would you most like to meet?

It can't be a surprise when I go with Katie Ledecky. Her swims make her legendary but I find her humble and down-to-earth personality unique. She is the best of the best but always lets her performances do the talking. It takes heart and perseverance and the acceptance of pain to be great, and she welcomes that. I look up to people like her.

What is the best advice ever given to you?

"Everything happens for a reason." I like to think that the misfortunes in this world are meant to make us stronger and more resilient. Adversity can prove bravery; hardships provide a cause for determination. Something lost does not indicate a lost cause.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?

That is a hard question for someone who wants to be everywhere at once. At the moment, I've been thinking about seeing HawaiI. I wouldn't mind taking a quick trip to the Pacific Ocean and hiking some beautiful nature trails.
