Greely sweeps Class B Southern Regional team titles, Laverdiere & Hamilton cruise to individual titles

The wet conditions at Twin Brook didn't deter Yarmouth junior Luke Laverdiere as he ran to his second straight Southern Maine Regional XC title.
Laverdiere ran with Henry Jaques of Freeport for the first mile before taking off during the second mile to open up a 15 second at the 2 mile
"I made a pretty decisive after the mile, to establish a bit of a lead, and after that I just tried to stay relaxed." Laverdiere said,
The decisive move led to a sub 5 minute mile, an impressive feat on the tough layout at Twin Brook, and sealed the deal.
Laverdiere cruised to finish line running the fastest time of the day with his 16:13.34. A new personal best on the course and the #2 mark in regional history.
Freeport's Jaques had a strong run for second place, he crossed the finish line in 16:35.47
Wells Mitch Libby finished third in the region (17:11.12) with sophomore Sam Russ of Lincoln Academy coming in fourth (17:21.37). Greely's Luke Marsanskis rounded out the top 5 with his 17:28.01.
The Rangers of Greely ran a smart race something that you expect from them on their home course. Greely placed 3 runners in the top nine, Marsanskis was joined by Max Stickney (6th) & Matthew Todd (9th). The Rangers depth showed off with Ben Wilson (13th), & Caleb Thurston(14th) rounding of the scorers, Jack Gustafon (17th) & Patrick Lyden (19th) were the Rangers 6th & 7th runners.
Freeport continued to impressive in the postseason as the two time defending Class B state champion were the runner-ups with 86 as they beat Wells on the 6th man tie breaker for the runner-up trophy. Lincoln Academy was 4th with 100 with Yarmouth 117 points rounding out the top 5.
