Orono boys & George Stevens girls top of Class C, Dill win girls individual title, Hassett repeats on boys side

George Stevens Academy senior John Hassett is no stranger to success. Hassett was able to repeat as the Class C individual champion on Saturday as he broke the 16 minute barrier for the first time.
"When I went by two miles in 10:17, I knew it was the day to break 16." Hassett said post race
Hassett stopped the clock at 15:56.12, a new personal best by 21 seconds
What did the repeat mean to him, "I don't have any words right now, I think in a month or so I will."
Hassett attributed his week long taper to his success on Saturday.
Behind him WInthrop senior Jacob Hickey gave it his best effort as he ran a lifetime best 16:10.90 as he finished second.
Maine Coast Waldorf senior Tucker Pierce set the early pace held on to finish third in 16:45.57.
Ollie Dillon of George Stevens Academy was next in fourth place as he ran under 17 minutes for the second time in as many weeks.
Rounding out the top 5 was Brandon Goud of Wiscasset, his time was 16:55.45.
The Orono boys won the third title in school history and first since 1975. The Red Riots didn't have a runner in the top 10 but packed it together very well as they has a 29 second split.
Leading the way was senior Lowell Ruck who finished 12th, he was followed by Matt Keresey in 14th & Johnathan Steelman in 15th. Jonathan Spencer & William O'Neil sealed the title placing 21st & 22nd.
Maine Coast Waldorf finished as the runner-ups just 13 points back.
