State Champion spotlight: Noah Hutchinson MDI HS
What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?
Preparing for the state meet consisted of daily workout routines and a healthy diet.
How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?
I prepared for the state meet by forgetting it was a state meet. I do not do well with pressure so I relaxed and pretended it was any other meet.
You transferred from Leavitt to MDI this year, can you talk about the transition and doing indoor for the first time?
The transition was hard and I did not fit in well at my school, but the track team was very welcoming and I felt at home.
What did it mean win the high jump & help lead your team a state title?
Indoor is quite like outdoor but without the irregular temperature and insects. It was a huge accomplishment for myself and I felt honored to be a part of something that was larger than me.
Coming into the season what were your goals and did you achieve them?
My goals this Indoor track season was to win states and reach my personal record of 6' 4". I accomplished my goals and now I am training even harder than before for the outdoor season.
