KVAC meet Recap, Brunswick, Mt.Ararat and Oxford Hills at Lewiston.

The Lewiston Blue Devils used their depth and ability to score across nearly all events to overcome some outstanding individual performances from Oxford Hills, Brunswick and Mt. Ararat to take both the girls and the boys meets in the first KVAC meet of the 2017 outdoor season. On the girls' side Lewiston (101) edged Mt. Ararat (93.5); Brunswick was third (50.5) followed by Oxford Hills (40).

The Lewiston boys enjoyed a more comfortable margin scoring 104 to Oxford Hills' 84. Brunswick was third (63) followed by Mt.Ararat (34).

The Lewiston girls were led by Jennifer Martin with three individual first place finishes in the 200M (28:23), 100M hurdles (18:65), & 300M hurdles(49:53). Martin was also a part of the winning 4 x 100M relay for the Blue Devils. McKayla Ball took 1st in the 100M 14:42), 3rd in the 200M, along with a 1st as part of the winning 4 x 100M relay. Other Blue Devils scoring in multiple events were Brooke Cloutier, Jazlyn Dumas, Kayla Allen, and Maria Bellegarde.

Oxford Hills dominated the women's throwing events with Maighread Laliberte leading the way with firsts in the Shot Put (34-06), Discus (102-03), and Javelin (86-06). The Mt. Ararat girls jumpers picked up a total of 36.5 of 64 available jumping points.  Led by Lauren Labbay (1st in PV (8-06), 2nd in Long Jump) and first year Wyley Fitzpatrick (1st in Long Jump (1604), 2nd in PV), the Eagles were consistent across all four events with seven others scoring.

Brunswick did well in the distance events with Micaela Ashby, Isabella Pols, and Katherine Koval taking 2nd, 3rd, and 5th in the 1600. Ashby (12:38) and Pols took 1st and 2nd in 3200. Mt. Ararat's Katherine Leckbee took 1st in the 1600 with a time of 5:34. Leckbee also took 3rd in the 400M and was part of the winning 4 X 400 relay team. Lewiston's Jazlyn Dumas took the high jump (4-10) while Brunswick first year Maddie Wayne claimed the Triple Jump (29-02).

The balance and depth of the Blue Devils was even more obvious in the boys meet. Just two Blue Devils dominated multiple individual events. Abbas Muktar won the 800M run (2:08) and took 2nd in the 1600M while teammate Aden Mohamed claimed the 1600 win (4:52) and took 2nd in the 800. Other multi-event scorers for Lewiston were Nicholas Roy (4th PV, 4th 300M hurdles, and 1st 1600M race-walk) and Abshir Abukar (1st 300M hurdles (43:80), 5th 200M run).

Brunswick's Seth White ran away with the 100M run (11.73), and earned a win in the long jump (20-08). The Dragon's Ryan Olsen took the high jump (5-08), and pole vault (10-00) along with a 5th place in the long jump. White was followed in the 100M by Oxford Hills' Dawson Stevens, John Bowen, and Zane Dustin. The same thee Vikings took the top three spots in the 200M with Stevens winning (24:46) Dustin 2nd and Bowen 3rd. Stevens also won the javelin (146-11) while Dustin won the 400 (54:14).

Brunswick, Lewiston, and Oxford Hills meet again April 27th at Lisbon High School.
