Cayden Spencer-Thompson competing for the Lincoln Lakes Track Club at the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational at Harvard University this afternoon shattered the Maine all-time best mark in the triple jump with a leap of 48-3 1/2 (14.72m).

Spencer-Thompson who plays basketball for Mattanawcook Academy in the winter, has competed just one other time this winter, previouslyjumping 46-6 1/4 to finish second at the Dartmouth Relays.

He started off his day with a 14.12m (46-3) jump. On his second trip down the runway, he broke the state all-time best mark of 47-0 3/4 set by Peter Phelan of Brewer in 1996 with a 47-5 3/4 (14.50m) jump.

The third time down the runway was the best effort from Cayden as he extended his all-time best out to 48-3 1/2 (14.72m).

That mark ranks Spencer-Thompson 5th in the country this winter. He had previously qualified for the New Balance Indoor Nationals at the Dartmouth Relays.
