State Champion Spotlight: Josh Hart (Brewer)
What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?
My preparations leading up to state meet weren't very different than what I would do for any other meet. I just worked on the important parts of my jump and practiced those, and I focused on some of the things I need to fix to jump higher
What was one thing that you focused on this winter that made a difference in your performance?
One thing I worked on this winter that helped out my performance was being patient in my jump. I would turnover too early and hit the bar so I've been working on fixing that habit
You came in as the third seed with a best of 11-0 on the season, was it a surprise that you won the title?
I went into states hoping to do my best but winning did surprise me. I've been trying to recover from a back injury I got last year when I played hockey. Taking one attempt at 11-0 I irritated it and decided to skip to 11-6 for a better spot in the final three. Clearing it on my first attempt was probably one of the biggest surprises of that meet.
Coming into the season what were your goals and did you achieve them?
My goals of the season were to place in states as best as I could and I definitely achieved that
What have your coaches meant to your success?
My coaches were a huge part of my success, mentally and physically. The coaches always believed in the athletes and helped as much as they could and I'm thankful for that
