State Champion Spotlight: Sarah Cox (Waterville)

State Champion Spotlight: Sarah Cox (Waterville)

What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?

Leading up to the State meet I cracked down on my technique.

What was one thing that you focused on this winter that made a difference in your performance?

I focused a lot on my technique throughout the season.

You threw a personal best 39-1 1/2 to win the shot put at the state meet by 4 feet, what went right on that throw?

On my winning throw my technique went extremely well. It doesn't matter how strong you may be if you don't have the technique you can only go so far.

Coming into the season what were your goals and did you achieve them?

Going into the season my goals were to get the technique down and throw 40 feet. I got close to my distance goal of 40 feet but didn't get there. But I defiantly got better with my technique throughout the season.

If there was one even you haven't done that you would like to try what would it be?

There is no other event that I would like to try. I love shotput so much that I enjoy it to the fullest.

What have your coaches meant to your success?

Throughout the season, my coaches were always present and supportive, backing me up during my event. They were confident in me which made it easier to have confidence in myself. They were ever-present support.
