The Golden Trojans have been the best program in SMAA for the last four years, and they proved once again they are the cream of the crop as they won their 5th straight team title on Saturday.

Thornton scored 94 points to easily outdistance runner-up Gorham (77). Cheverus put up a strong effort with (74) while Scarborough (50) & Marshwood (46) rounded out the top five.

TA scored just 5 individual points on the track as they relied on strong relays, and unbelievable field events to lead them to victory.


In the 4x100 Thornton Academy behind Mia Taranko's anchor leg set a new a league record as they set a new state leading mark of 50.0. The time is the ninth fastest in state history.

Taranko added a win in the long jump 16-4 1/4, and a third place personal best effort in the triple jump (35-5 1.2)

The Boudreau sisters, Paige and Jaigan finished second and third in the shot put with throws of 32-4 1/2 & 32-3 3/4

Jaigan Boudreau would go on to win the discus with a personal best 125-9, the mark is the top in the state this spring. Teammate Johnna Scott would add eight more points with her 111-3 runner-up finish.

Katie-Marie Roy cleared 10-0 in the pole vault to finish second. Rachel Schofield and Tia Snyder both cleared 9-0 to finish 5th & 6th as well.

Allie Gross cleared 5-2 for a third place in the high jump.

Westbrook junior Nyagoa Bayak broke the SMAA record, and broke the state record with her 5-10 1/4 win in the high jump. The mark ranks her 9th best in the country.


Freshman Victoria Bossong was a double winner as she ran 12.64 to take the 100m, and then clocked 25.64 to win the 200m, the best time in the state this spring She would anchor the Stags 4x400 with a 56 split as they ran 4:06.67 a new state leader.

Scarborough's Emily Labbe set a new sophomore state record with her winning 15.11 effort in the 100m hurdles, the time is also the fastest in the state. Labbe would add a runner-up finish in the 300m hurdles as well.

Anna Gardner of Scarborough set a new SMAA record in the pole vault as she cleared 10-6.

Emma Gallant set a new state leader in winning the 400m as the sophomore clocked 58.45


Anna Slager of Gorham won the 1600m in 5:10.47 using a stong kick to pull away from the field.

The 800m was one of the closest races of day as Malaika Pasch of Falmouth took the win 2:19.50 to 2:19.88 over Anna Folley of South Portland

Deering's Annah Rossvall ran a personal 46.20 to win the 300m hurdles, that effort top all of Class A heading into the state meet
