How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I ran in elementary school but just started again my freshman year of high school. I took a break in middle school to play soccer and tennis just to get experience with other sports. I decided to run on a high school team because it seemed like a great opportunity to enter the athletic community at my new school.

What has your summer training consisted of? How much mileage you putting in?

I have been taking the summer easy and mostly making sure to get out there and work hard despite the heat. My mileage is pretty low but i'm working it up as the season comes closer.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?
I haven't been thinking too much about season goals, mostly just got out and run hard. Staying injury free and to continue progressing in my races is the most I can ask for.

What is your favorite workout?

I like really long runs where I can just get into a groove and continue steadily for a while. Truly though I enjoy any workout as long as I can finish feeling good about it and myself.

What did you learn from last xc season that will help you improve in 2018?
Last xc season was crazy and it was also so new to me that I had no expectations and was primarily happy with any and all performances. Even though I am much more familiar with the scene I strive to maintain that positivity regardless of the end result after races.

What is your favorite course to run in Maine?
I enjoy most courses as long as there is variety. My ideal race has hills and turns and generally unique surroundings. It's difficult to keep yourself entertained for a 5k but as long as you can always be focused on the next obstacle you pay less attention to the difficulty. So maybe Pineland? I'm not totally sure.

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?
Every race I strive to beat my PR and it's always a huge accomplishment if I do. My most successful race was track states in the 1600m but as far as xc running goes, probably either the Pineland race with my best time or the Twin Brook state meet.

What do you love most about running?
I love running because it gets me out there and feeling good about myself. Even if it's not my best workout or race I still tried and that's most important.

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?
My favorite thing to fo is probably to eat, ice cream in particular. It's a major motivator for me when running because afterwards I don't feel bad about treating myself to a cone or something sugary and delicious like that.

Do you have any pre-race rituals or routines?'
Before races I try to relax alone for a bit. Solitude helps me concentrate and calms my nerves prior to racing. I also usually eat something with pesto.

Favorite quote?

No favorite quote at the moment, still looking for one as well as a good mantra that works for me in running.

Snapchat or Instagram?

I'm really not a fan of either Instagram or Snapchat. I attempt to steer away from phone and social media as much as possible but it's super hard to. i'd say they're both time wasters but probably choose Snapchat.

What shoes do you race/train in?

I train in old nike sneakers that I've had for years. They don't really have enough support and aren't made for constant use. I am long overdue for a new pair but not sure what they'll be.

What professional athlete would you most like to meet?
Never thought about it.

What is your favorite food?
Raspberries or strawberries or chocolate.

One word to describe yourself

Eeeek I'm not sure, probably outgoing? I guess?
