Junior Caitlin Macpherson of Ellsworth finished 6th in the PVC Large School race a year ago running over 22 minutes. Fast forward to last Saturday, Macpherson dominated the Large School race as she crossed the line first, 37 seconds in front of the runner-up Jaymie Sidaway of John Bapst.
Macpherson winning time was 20:17.30, a new personal best which is surprising given this course is more difficult than Belfast. Her time was the fastest on the day only behind Small school winner Erin Gerbi's 20:09.
Sidaway a sophomore had a strong effort as she improved on her seventh place effort from a year ago as she crossed the line in 20:54.70
She was followed by Mt Desert Island junior Katelyn Osborne (21:02.40) who led the Trojans to the team title. MDI tallied 32 points to easily outdistance Caribou by 43 points. John Bapst was third with 82 points.
John Bapst got a strong run from freshman Aliah Coltart when she finished fourth in a tome of 21:21.40. Rounding out the top finishers was sophomore Olivia Johnson of MDI (21:26.80)
