The Cheverus girls tied for the Class A indoor title a year ago, this year they made sure they didn't have to share the podium as the Stags piled up 72 points as they outscored runner-up Thornton Academy by 33.5 points.

Cheverus was paced by sophomore Victoria Bossong who completed the sprint triple winning the 55m, 200m, & 400m. Not only did the standout win each event she set state meet records in each event. Bossong started her record breaking day with 7.20 in the 55m eclipsing the seven year old mark of 7.22 set by Brunswick's Alexis Dickinson. Next up was the 400m where she took down teammate Emma Gallant's year old record of 57.80 with her winning effort of 57.13, Gallant finished second in the race with a 59.46. Bossong completed her record breaking day clocking 25.43 to erase the 12 year old mark of Kristen Slotnick of 25.80.

Westbrook's Nyagoa Bayak continued her winning ways as she won the high jump with a personal best and state record 6-0 clearance. She improved on her year old mark of 5-7. Her mark ranks as second nationally and would have placed her third in the boys meet. She would add another victory with a leap of 37-9 1/2 in the triple jump.

Her teammate Helen Shearer put the hammer down over the final 800m in the 2 mile as she ran a new personal best and state leading time of 11:06.09. Her time moves her to the eighth fastest in state indoor history.
