Cayden Spencer-Thompson of Mattanawcook closed out his storied career with two All-American finishes and a just miss in a third event during the third & fourth days of the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, NC.

Spencer-Thompson started his great finish with the triple jump on Saturday. On his first leap in the third flight he shattered his previous personal best of 48-3 3/4 with a 49-6 1/4 leap. On his next attempt Spencer-Thompson would break the 50ft barrier for the first time with a 50-0 3/4 mark. That mark didn't last long as he broke it on his on third jump with a 50-1 3/4 effort.

After the fourth flight he was in fourth place overall, and on his first jump in the finals he once again set a new personal best and state record with a 50-7 1/4 to move into third where he would stay.

It was an unbelievable series of jumps with four over 50 ft, and five jumps over the old state all-time best.

On Sunday the Lousiville bound senior returned to compete in the high jump & long jump. Cayden would clear the opening height of 6-4 1/4 on his first attempt, after a first attempt miss at 6-6 1/4 he cleared the next attempt. It was a key first attempt clearance at 6-8 1/4 that earned him All-American honors for the second time of the weekend, as he would go on to finish 6th.

In the long jump he came out firing with a 24-1 1/2 just 1/4 behind his state record mark in the event. He was unable to improve on that mark, and ended up missing the finals by 1 spot as he tied for 8th best jump but the other jumper had a second jump further than Spencer-Thompson.

He was the only jumper in the meet to compete in all three championship jumps, earning All-American in two and just missing in the third.

In the pole vault Class A state champion & record holder Travis Snyder vaulted his way to All-American honors with a third place finish. Snyder opened his competition with 15-1 1/2 clearance, and cleared the next bar 15-7 1/4 on his first as well. The first miss of the meet came with the bar raised to 16-1 1/4, but Travis was able to navigate the height on his second attempt. After two misses at 16-5 1/4, the University of Connecticut bound senior cleared the bar to assure himself a top three finish. The clearance at 16-5 1/4 is the second best in his his storied career.

On the track Cheverus sprint standout Victoria Bossong was electric once again. On Saturday in the Emerging Elite 200m, she clocked a personal best 24.54 to finish 15th out of 40 athletes.

Bossong saved her best for last, running in the Championship 400m unseeded sections, she won section three in a personal best & state best 53.81. In the process she shattered her previous state all-time best of 55.33.

Also competing on Sunday was the Bonny Eagle girls DMR as they finished in a time of 13:08.45 to place 33rd overall.
