How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I have been running for one year. My sister, Erin, was the one who convinced me to try it. If she hadn't mentioned it to me and shown me how fun it could be with her success I would have never tried it.

What has your summer training consisted of? How much mileage you putting in?

My summer training was only 217 miles but thats around 100 miles better than last year.  So I'm making improvement. My coach puts an incredible amount of work into the running program and it gives the whole team a huge boost in confidence and running ability going into the season.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

I haven't put a lot of thought into my goals because I haven't really done a hard workout yet, but off the top of my head I would like to be running around 16:00.

What is your favorite workout?

I'd probably say tempo runs or hill workouts, but the workouts that help me the most are probably mile repeats.

What did you learn from last xc season that will help you improve in 2019?

Last xc season being my first season was when I learned literally everything about running.  I need to credit a couple people here. First I need to thank my coach for training me into the runner I am today.  With a different coach I wouldn't have been nearly as successful. He is one of the best coaches I have had for any sport ever and he has taught me a lot. I also need to thank Gabe Coffey, he won almost every race last year including the festival of champions.  He helped me a lot as a runner, and he is a mentor to me. During the freshman race he was around every corner telling me my position and what to do. I couldn't have won it without him. With these people helping me I learned a lot. So I guess one of the things that I learned would be that your body can actually work a lot harder than you think it can, and a lot of running is mental.  It's about which person on the starting line can take more pain.

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

Hockey is actually my favorite sport.

Do you have any pre-race rituals or routines?

Last year we had a senior that would huddle us up in a group and he would say a bunch of completely random stupid stuff that would lighten the mood.  This coming year I can see myself listening to music with my sister to get pumped up for the race.

Favorite quote?

"Again"- Herb Brooks, from Miracle.

Snapchat or Instagram?

I actually don't have any social media at all.

What shoes do you race/train in?

I train in the Nike Pegasus turbos but in the past I used the Pegasus 35s, and I race in spikes.

What professional athlete would you most like to meet?

That's really hard. I would say Wayne Gretzky.

What is your favorite food?

I love cereal.  Any cereal.
