What has your summer training consisted of? How much mileage you putting in?

I averaged about 40 miles a week for most of the summer. Because, aside from a few tempos, I didn't have the added variant of speed work, I ran longer long runs and shorter short runs to create a better variety in my training.

For strength, I tried to learn how to do a push-up, but to no avail.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

I'd like to run sub 18 minutes. More ambitiously, I'd also like to not get lost on any courses this year.

What is your favorite workout that makes you feel most prepared for success?

My favorite is the "fast finish," where we run 3 or 4 miles of a 5 mile run at leisure pace but then take the last mile at race pace.

What did you learn from last xc season that will help you improve in 2019?

Freshman year I ran with blind confidence and little experience. Sophomore year I ran with more experience, but too cautiously; coming from an injury and the pressure to replicate my first season, I ran every course in the same rhythm I had run it before. This year, I want to push myself in ways I wasn't able to last year.

You have never lost a XC race in the state of Maine. What's it like to know going into the race that you have a bullseye on your back?

I don't think about that before races. I think about whether or not I should tape the laces on my spikes, or how long the bathroom lines are.

Do you have a favorite course?

I like the Belfast course.

What do you love most about running?

I like that running is as instantly gratifying as it is simple. You can run a quality workout in less than thirty minutes, and all you need are a few pairs of shoes.

How is your team looking for the fall?

I've definitely seen a shift in attitude from last year's team to this year's team. As a whole, I think we've been approaching training with more focus, and if we continue to build on our potential, we can do very well at States.

You qualified for the Footlocker Nationals a year ago. Do you feel any added pressure to make it back?

Footlocker Nationals was an amazing experience. It's also roughly 3 months away. While I am planning around the Footlocker Regional, I think it is equally important to focus on the meets leading up to it, especially this early in the season.

What shoes will you train in and race in?

I've been running in Asics Gel Kayanos since fourth grade. For spikes, I use Saucony or New Balance.

Favorite subject in school?

I like English and History.

What was the last movie you saw and what did you think of it?

I saw Booksmart. I thought it was movie-smart.

What is your Pet Peeve?

Snow.

Lastly, if you were stranded on an island with three things what would they be?

A pen, paper, and a piano.
