What has your summer training consisted of? How much mileage you putting in?

My summer training has mostly consisted of easy-moderate distance runs, hills, and barefoot strides. I tried to keep the intensity pretty low overall, although I did do 1-2 workouts per week to get in shape for Beach to Beacon. These included tempo runs, hill workouts, and mile repeats, as well as a weekly long run.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

I hope to improve from last season, stay healthy, and enjoy the process!

What is your favorite workout that makes you feel most prepared for success?

I have a love/hate relationship with mile repeats. On one hand, they're always difficult, but I usually finish the workouts with a ton of confidence that carries over to my next race.

What did you learn from last xc season that will help you improve in 2019?

That the best races often occur when you're the most relaxed. Getting too nervous only wastes energy.

Do you have a favorite course?

I absolutely loved where New England's was last year (Manchester, NH). It was a true cross country course, with constant hills and mud! In Maine, I love Twinbrook.

What do you love most about running?

When I first started running a couple years ago, I once heard a quote that went something like, "I don't run for the endorphins you get after the run, I run for the feeling you get during the run." At the time, I didn't understand that - I hated the difficulty of running itself, but loved how it made me feel accomplished afterwards. Now, years later, I feel like I understand that quote. My favorite thing about running is feeling strong during the run - even when I'm out of breath and my legs are tired.

You had a great run in Beach to Beacon 10k what does that performance say about what is in store for this fall?

Beach to Beacon is definitely a confidence booster going into this season. I ended up running a little faster than expected, so I'm hoping to build on that race in the bigger invitationals and championship races this season.

How is your team looking for the fall?

I'm really excited to see where our team will stand this fall. While we lost some great seniors, we have some fast freshmen moving up, as well as some returning varsity runners. I think we have the potential to be just as good, if not better, than last year!

What shoes will you train in and race in?

I train in Asics Gel Cumulus, and race in Saucony Havoks.

 Favorite subject in school?

 Probably English or history.

What was the last movie you saw and what did you think of it?

Honestly, I think the last movie I saw was "Elf" last Christmas. Who doesn't love that movie?

What is your Pet Peeve ?

Not being on time to things, or wasting time in general.

Lastly, if you were stranded on an island with three things what would they be?

My dog, books, and a never-ending supply of peanut butter!
