Flashback Friday: Snyder Vaults 16'9 1/4
Thornton Academy senior Travis Snyder had an outstanding senior season that saw the multi talent vaulter set a new all-time state best in the pole vault at the 2019 Class A State Championship with his winning clearance of 16-9 1/4. The mark erased the 11 year old mark of 16-9 set by Brunswick's David Slovenski. With the clearance Snyder also set a new Class A state meet record breaking the 16-0 mark of Slovenski and Sam Rusak. In his career Travis set class records in the outdoor vault all four years of his high school career, while adding two individual vault titles.
Snyder went on to win the New England title on his home track with a 16-0 effort, before finishing third in the New Balance Outdoor Nationals earning All-American honors with a 16-5 1/4.
Travis now attends the University of Connecticut, in his freshman indoor season he cleared a personal best of 17-0 3/4.
