Throwback Thursday: 2010 Class A Boys State Meet 1600m
The 2010 Class A boys 1600m was one of the best races in state meet history because of the amount of talent in the race, and just how fast you had to run to make the podium that day. Brunswick's Will Geoghegan took the win that day clocking 4:12.57, the eighth fastest time in state history. Behind him Jack Terwilliger of Cheverus sped to a 4:15.60 for second while Luke Fontaine of Cony was third in 4:17.34. Brunswick's Liam Cassidy was next across the line in 4:20.48, followed by Mt Blue's Kelton Cullenberg in 4:22.50. Windham senior Julian Gazzelloni rounded out the scoring with a 4:25.06.
This was just one of the great race Geoghegan had on the day. He started the day off running a leg on the second place 4x800 team (8:05.92). He won the 800m running 1:56.11 and completed his day with a third victory on the 3200m running 9:26.26/
Behind Will's 30 individual points the Dragons of Brunswick won the Class A team title with a total of 82 points.
