Salute to Seniors: Emma Clarke

Name: Emma Clarke

School: Cape Elizabeth

What was your most memorable race/meet?

2019 WMC Championships.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

Making the WMC All Conference team last season.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your xc/track&field career in high school?

Start taking training more seriously freshman year.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

I think overcoming a lot of mental blocks when throwing, I always get in my own head too much about making my throws perfect.

What will you miss the most?

My teammates and training with my friends and coaches.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

Don't give up on something just because it's hard, set goals for yourself and keep working towards them.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

My coaches have really taught me that anything can be possible if you work hard for it and not to give up on myself if things aren't going exactly how I wanted them to.

How do you feel about missing your senior season due to the coronavirus?

I'm really sad, I had been working really hard conditioning and training during the winter because I wanted to break 100 in discus and place at the state meet, so it's sad I won't get to try to do that anymore.

What are your college plans?

I'm going to Connecticut College in the fall to continue track and field.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I'd like to thank my parents for always supporting me, all my coaches i've had during my track career but especially Coach Erickson and Brian Woodbury for helping me really start enjoying track and throwing, and all my friends and teammates.
