Turn Back The Clock Tuesday: Beaton Sets 110m Hurdle Record
Today we turn back the clock to the 2019 Class B boys state meet. The event the 110m boy's high hurdles, the race the first preliminary race of the day featuring top seed Zachary Beaton of Hermon.
Beaton with a little breeze (+0.9) behind him sprint down the track, making quick work of the 39-inch hurdles in front of him to clock a personal best 14.53. The mark shattered the previous Class B state meet record of 14.72 set back in 1998 by Gorham's Matt Spera.
The time was all-time fast as it moved him to the fourth-fastest time in Maine state history in the 110m high hurdles.
Later in the meet, Zachary would add a win in the 300m hurdles clocking a 40.55 winning effort to cross the line over two seconds up on the second-place finisher. Also, he won the long jump with a big effort of 21-4 1/4 and placed fourth in the triple jump with a 42-1 1/2 jump.
Beaton now competes for the University of Maine at Orono.
