Turn Back The Clock Tuesday: Porter Sets 300 Hurdles Record
Today we turn it back to the 2016 Class C State Championship meet boys 300m hurdles race where Evan Porter of Traip Academy ran 39.57 to set a new state meet record.
Porter a junior entered as the top seed in the race and was expected to win the race with ease. He did just that storming down the homestretch to an easy victory and a new personal best of 39.57. the time erased the eight-year-old mark of 39.59 by John Bapst's Chris Fogler. He won the race by an astonishing 2.63 seconds over the runner-up.
Earlier in the meet, Porter won the 100m dash in 11.13, and the 110m hurdles in 15.21. He scored thirty points for Traip helping them to a fourth-place team finish.
Porter would go on to finish second in the 300m hurdles at the New England Championship with a new personal best of 39.20. He also grabbed a podium finish in the 100m dash with a sixth-place 11.15 effort.
