Salute to Seniors: Zach Audet

School: Biddeford High School

What was your most memorable race/meet?
Every race has been memorable because it was always a chance to run for your school and compete in my favorite sport. It was always a chance to improve. I always analyzed my race footage from every meet looking at areas of improvement.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?
I've had a lot of great competitors over my 4 years, but the most memorable ones are Abukar Abu and Jakub Jastrzbeski.

What was your greatest accomplishment?
Competing at states and making new PR's.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your xc/track&field career in high school?
If I could start over I would've continued to run XC after freshman year. Knowing what my body can handle and how to avoid my constant injuries I would've pushed myself much harder in indoor track during my underclassmen years while staying injury free.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Injuries were definitely a constant, and gaining the confidence in myself to be the best athlete I can be.

What will you miss the most?

I'm going to miss my teammates and my coaches.

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Listen to your body. Injuries are not something to mess around with.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

Coach Quint has always been a big supporter and has always been invested in every athlete he coaches. Constantly finding ways to better his athletes and puts a big emphasis on stretching after every workout.

How do you feel about missing your senior season due to the coronavirus?

I feel very disappointed and cheated. I wish I could've had one more run doing hurdles with my teammate Michael O'Driscoll and my rivals.

What are your college plans?

I'm going to be going through fire attack school for firefighting through an entity of Southern Maine Community College.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me at my sporting events and to my coaches, Coach Quint and Coach Ouellette for making me the best hurdler and sprinter I could possibly be, your advice and hard work into making me the best athlete did not go unnoticed. I want to thank my teammates for making track such a memorable time in my life and making it so much fun.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Track has been the greatest time of my high school career. I always looked forward to every practice and every meet over the last 4 years.
