All-Time Maine Girls High Jump Programs

All-Time High Jump Programs

We've been working to expand our vast results database this summer adding in several state championship meets dating back to 1995, and the plan is to continue throughout the summer.  While we don't have every team's top athletes of all-time we wanted to take a look at the data we had to see what programs (schools) had the top performers in every track and field event outdoors.

We scored each team just like a cross-country meet, giving 1 point for the fastest time, and so on. A program's score is based on the top five performers in the event with the top 7 athletes acting as displacers.

Today we are going to take a look at the girl's high jump. Below are the top five programs based on the results we currently have in the database. For the complete list of 102 teams visit the link below.

COMPLETE LIST

Thornton Academy is the top-ranked girls' high jump program with all five scorers over at least 5-2. Erin Hatch leads the way with her 5-6 clearance, while Hannah Zaitlin 5-5 1/4 ranks second. Jacky Mendes and recent 2019 graduate Allie Gross each cleared 5-4. The Golden Trojans averaged 5-4 1/4.

Cheverus is the second-ranked program behind Alana Van Loenen's 5-6 clearance. Caroline Summa is second-ranked for the Stags with her 5-4 personal best, while Julia Pomerleau and Kathryn McLaughlin each cleared 5-3. Cheverus averaged 5-3 1/4 for their five scoring jumpers.

The Blue Blazes of Westbrook rank third with state record holder Nyagoa Bayak leading the way. Bayak's 5-11 gave Westbrook a huge boost but they also had Karima Ummah clear 5-6. Westbrook averaged 5-4 1/4 per jumper.

Greely is next with Kate Getz's leading the way with her 5-4 clearance. The Rangers other four scorers each cleared 5-2 and only top-ranked Thornton Academy can match that.

Rounding out the top five programs is Old Town High School. The Coyotes top jumper is Tia Jackson who cleared a best of 5-3 1/2. Old Town averaged 5-2 per jumper.
