The 2023 Southern Maine Classic is canceled due to the weather. The race was supposed to take place on Saturday however due to the impending storm from Hurricane Lee the race was moved to Monday as a precaution.
In an email from Gorham athletic director Tim Spear below he said:
Unfortunately, Mother Nature just did not want to work with us this weekend. Due to the weather, we are canceling the Southern ME Classic XC race that was rescheduled for today. We will not be rescheduling this event for this season.
The 2023 cross-country season is off to a tough start with several races being canceled due to thunder and lightning two weeks ago and now the second biggest invitational in the state being canceled today.
