The Cheverus girls showed their dominance in the distance events as the Stags tallied 71 points in the events 600m up to the 2 Mile, plus the 4x800 and Sprint Medley relays. The junior 800 was a key event for Cheverus as Paige Alexander took first place, and four other Stags scored in places 4-7, as they scored 24 points total. Alexander's sister Grace added ten points with a 2 mile, while Lucy Olson added a pair of second-place finishes in the 600m and senior 800m.
Cheverus scored 153 to outdistance runner-up Portland by 40 points, Scarborough (100.5), Gorham (92.5), and Falmouth (92) rounded out the top five teams.
Gorham's Ashley Connolly was the sprint star of the meet as the senior won the Senior 55m (7.49), 200m (27.07), and 400m (60.70), and then anchored the winning Open 4x200m relay.
Portland senior Samantha Moore was a double winner as she broke her league record in the 600m (1:37.22) and then added a 2:21.11 victory in the senior 800.
Scarborough's Isabella Harmon won the senior high jump (5-4) and cleared 10-7 to win the pole vault.
Windham's Tayla Pelletier had a strong meet as she set a new personal best of 7.59 to win the senior hurdles, and added victories in the senior long jump (17-3 1/2) and triple jump (35-8).
Anna Jennings of Marshwood excelled in the junior division as she scored three victories. She leaped 17-6 1/2 to win the long jump, while on the track she ran 7.47 in the 55m, and 27.12 in the 200m.
The boy's meet was a close one throughout as South Portland and Scarborough battled, the teams have won the last fourteen championships. Scarborough held a 14.5 point with just the senior triple jump remaining but the Red Riots erased the deficit behind a win by standout Arnaud Sioho (48-8 1/2) plus a third place from Tyler Bryant, and eighth from Caetano Correia to edge ahead 152.5 -149 to earn their fourth consecutive team championship.
South Portland was once again led by senior Arnaud Sioho who in addition to the win in the triple jump set a new league record of 7.67 in winning the senior 55m hurdles and another record in the senior long jump with his personal best jump of 23-3, the second-best jump in state indoor history.
Gorham senior Griffin Gammon tied the league record with his indoor personal best 6-8 clearance. The mark was the fourth-best in state history.
The 600m was one of the best races of the meet as league record holder Charlie Jacques of Portland matched up against former record holder Henri Rivard of Marshwood. Jacques seized control of the race with a lap to go but Rivard found something extra in the homestretch and outleaned Jacques by .02 seconds at the line to win in a new league record 1:22.85.
Bonny Eagle's Drew Gervais was the top junior division athlete as he won the 55m (6.80), 200m (23.70), and 400m (52.69).
Scarborough's Ethan Keller won the mile in a Class A leading 4:22.78 effort. Teammate Wyatt Martin cleared 15 feet in the pole vault for the victory, the jump was the sixth-best in history.
