Britt Wins Mile Racewalk Title, Bangor Sets 4X200 Record

Sunday Day 4

The girls' milers took to the track on Sunday. Class B champion Shealyn Brochu missed running under five, but she led the way with her 5:00.44, thanks to a fast closing 200m. Class A champion Laurel Driscoll set an indoor personal best of 5:01.14, moving her into the top ten all-time in Maine history.

Saturday Day 3

South Portland's Arnaud Sioho made the triple jump final with a best effort of 47-11 1/4 to score eighth place overall. Scarborough's Wyatt Martin improved his state-leading mark in the boys' pole vault to 15-5 as he finished 21st overall.

Friday Day 2

The Bangor Rams 4x200 (Madeline Thai, Sophia Chase, Jalynn Williams, and Bayley Fryer) broke the state record they set earlier this winter, clocking 1:45.72 to finish 66th overall. In the 1600m sprint medley, Portland (Adong Vincent, Alisandra Lindos, Anneliese Collin, and Samantha Moore) smashed the state record of 4:20.08 with a 4:13.97 effort. Lake Region's Samuel Laverdiere, the Class B champ and New England runner-up in the mile, ran a personal best 9:17.41 for 2 miles to finish 71st; his time is the eighth best in state history. Scarborough junior and Class A champion Isabella Harmon cleared 5-7 1/4 on her third attempt to finish sixth in the high jump to earn All-American honors.

Thursday Day 1

Ian Britt of Mt Ararat dominated the 1-mile race walk as the junior burst away from the field after the 800m mark (3:30.44) and walked a negative split to set a new meet record with his 6:57.64 winning effort. Maine filled the podium as Ian Poulin of Gardiner finished third in 8:20.92, Noble's Bryce Upton was fourth with his 8:29.30, and Alexandy Pierre of South Portland was fifth in 8:57.47. The Portland Bulldogs 4x800 ran a state-leading 8:02.39 to finish 44th, the time was the fourth fastest in state history. Scaborough notched an 8:05.81, the eighth-best time in state history.
