Top Returning Boys' Throwers Ahead Of 2026 Outdoor Season

The Maine throws scene is loaded with talent this season. From athletes dominating a single event to others putting up numbers across two or even all three throws, this group represents some of the best the sport and state have to offer.

Here's a look at the top boys throwers to know right now.

Top Returning Throwers:

Jake Bassi (Bangor HS): Bassi is the top returner in the Class A Shot Put. He finished as the state runner-up last year and won the Class A title indoors this winter. He earned All-New England honors this winter at the New England Indoor Championship with a sixth-place finish. Bassi finished the indoor season with a best of 58-1 1/2. Look for him to be a big factor in the discus as well. He was only fourth in the state meet last spring, but threw 177-6 during the season to lead all returners statewide.

Jacob Feith (Winthrop HS): The defending Class C javelin champion, Feith leads all returners this spring in the event with a personal best of 167-7.

William Fagan (York HS): Fagan is the top returner in the Class B shot put; he finished third last spring. He won the B indoor title and was top ten in the New England Indoor Championship this winter (52-9 1/2).

Joseph Bennett (MDI HS): The senior won the Class B discus title last spring with a toss of 146-6. He'll be looking to make it two in a row this spring. He could be a sleeper in the shot put as well; he threw 50-9 3/4 during the indoor season.

Minh Ha (Belfast HS): Ha improved from 15th in the Class B as a sophomore to 3rd as a junior last spring in the javelin. He leads all B returners with his 149-7 best.

Keegan McKenna (Skowhegan HS): As a sophomore last spring, he was on the podium in the Class A javelin with a sixth-place finish. McKenna threw a best of 145-4 a year ago, and will be looking for more this spring as the top returner in A.

Asa Joyce (MDI HS): Joyce had a huge freshman season that saw him finish fourth in the Class B state meet in the discus. Joyce has a best of 149-4 a year ago, which is the second-furthest returning mark in the state.

Rocco Deschambault (Cheverus HS): Deschambault had a best of 52-2 in the shot put last spring; he has the second furthest returning throw statewide. He finished fourth in Class A shot last spring.
