Top Returning Girls' Jumpers Ahead Of 2026 Outdoor Season

The Maine jumps scene is loaded with talent this season. From athletes dominating a single event to others putting up numbers across two or even all three jumps, this group represents some of the best the sport and state have to offer.

Here's a look at the top girls' jumpers to know right now.

Top Returning Jumpers:

Isabella Harmon (Scarborough HS): The defending Class A high jump champion cleared a best of 5-6 last spring. Harmon was the top jumper indoors again, clearing 5-8, the third-best mark in state history, winning the state title, and placing third in New England and sixth in the country to earn All-American honors for the second consecutive season. Isabella is also a top pole vaulter. She won the Class A indoor title this winter and has vaulted over 11 feet on several occasions.

Sophia Chase (Bangor HS): Chase is the top returner statewide in the long jump with a best of 18-4 last spring. She is the defending Class A and New England champion in the event. Indoors, she was the Class A runner-up.

Daijha Grant (Hermon HS): The junior had a breakthrough indoor season, leaping to 38-2, the fourth-best mark in state history. Grant is the defending Class B champion in the event after jumping 36-6 1/2 last spring.

Elyannah Briggs (Old Town HS): Briggs is the defending Class B high jump champion; she cleared a best of 5-4 last spring. Indoors, she soared over 5-6 1/4 to win the state title and set a state meet record in the Class B Championship.

Lucy Veilleux (Old Town HS): The junior is one of the top long- and triple-jumpers in the state. Veilleux jumped 18-1 1/4 and 36-3 last spring; she didn't compete in the state championship meet after it was moved due to weather. Indoors, she was the Class B runner-up in triple and third in the long.

Sydney Leveille (Marshwood HS): Leveille had a breakthrough indoors, jumping 37-11 to win the Class A triple jump title; her mark was sixth best in state history. She added a 17-4 1/2 in the long jump for fourth place. Last spring, she was third in the A long jump and fifth in the triple.

Piper Higgins (Greely HS): The Class B indoor state champion this winter, Higgins cleared 10-7. A year ago she cleared 9-0 to finished third in the state meet outdoors.
