Several Maine high school athletes set personal records at championship meets during the week of May 25.
Andrei Tourigny (Scarborough) ran 10:13.61 in the boys' 3200 meters at the SMAA Outdoor Track Championship, improving from his previous best of 10:52.36 set in May 2026. The freshman finished 9th of 18 competitors and ranks #18 in Maine and #2 among freshmen statewide.
Cora VanDongen (Mt. Desert Island) clocked 2:28.70 in the girls' 800 meters at the PVC Large School Championship on May 30. The junior improved from her previous mark of 2:36.92 and placed 4th of 15 competitors, ranking #34 in the state and #11 among juniors.
Kiana Martin (South Portland) ran 13.32 in the girls' 100 meters at the SMAA championship, improving from 13.69. The sophomore finished 7th of 27 competitors and ranks #51 statewide and #8 among sophomores.
Michael Van Tassel (Winthrop) ran 11:05.45 in the boys' 3200 meters at the MVC Championships on May 27, improving from 11:36.42 set in April 2026. The freshman placed 7th of 18 competitors and ranks #86 in Maine and #10 among freshmen.
Michael Mastraccio (Sanford) clocked 10:10.78 in the boys' 3200 meters at the SMAA championship, improving from 10:31.38. The sophomore finished 7th of 18 competitors and ranks #16 statewide and #4 among sophomores.
Molly Nagel (Cape Elizabeth) ran 13.12 in the girls' 100 meters at the WMC Championship on May 30, improving from 13.43. The senior placed 5th of 46 competitors and ranks #27 in Maine and #7 among seniors. Nagel also set a personal record in the 200 meters, improving from 27.87 to 27.33.
Emma Price (Portland) ran 12:48.80 in the girls' 3200 meters at the SMAA championship, improving from 13:04.66 set in May 2026. The junior finished 11th of 13 competitors and ranks #57 statewide and #13 among juniors.
