Nagy shatters CR, Ladd just misses @ Mt. Blue

 


 

 

Lawrence's Erzsebet Nagy shattered the course record, but the Mt. Blue girls placed 6 runners in the top 8 leading to a big victory in a home meet today.

   Nagy toured the hilly, muddy course in 20:21 bettering the old mark of 21:41 set by Mt. Blue's Melody Lam in 2009.  Mt. Blue's Addie Cullenberg stayed reasonably close to Nagy through the first mile and cruised to a 2nd place finish.  Mt. Blue's Louisa Stancioff, Sarah Wade and Maryam Norton grabbed the next three spots to nail down the team victory.  Sarah Fuller of Lawrence grabbed 6th, followed by Mt. Blue's Emily Roberts and Katherine Gunther.  Becca Luce of Messalonskee and Abigail Bergoldi of MCI rounded out the top 10.

   For the second straight year Messalonskee's Harlow Ladd narrowly missed a course record and the Mt. Blue boys squeaked out a two point victory in boys cross country action at Mt. Blue on Friday.
  After running a 17:21 last year, Ladd bettered his mark to 17:20 this year again coming very close to the course record of 17:17 set by Mt. Blue's Kelton Cullenberg in 2009.
   Justin Tracy and Sully Jackson grabbed the next two spots setting the table for Mt. Blue's team victory.  Cam Dick of Messalonskee was 5th. Mt. Blue's Dustin Staples showed a strong kick passing John Wilson of Nokomis and Samuel Gachagua of MCI in the final stretch.  Rounding out the top ten were Alex Chandler of Mt. Blue and Messalonskee's Emmet Heath and Aldo Servello.
