Hello Again Guys,

Since my last post a lot has happened! We’ve really been getting into the meat of our workouts lately and have been doing our hardest training. The only problem is, my times haven’t been dropping by as much as I want them to. I did run 2:03 for 800m, but nothing else has improved. I missed our meet this week because I was at a Boy Scout campout at Maine Maritime Academy. I still ran over the weekend though, and got to compete in the dog sled race there. There were teams of 6 to 7 boys pulling a homemade sled across a mile long course while stopping at different stations to do various challenges. Our team didn’t do too well in the sled race (at one of the challenges we had to build a fire with flint and we ended up using our map to get the fire started) and we got pretty lost. Eventually we found our way back though, right before we reached the 4:30 p.m. time limit. At night we got to sleep in the gigantic fieldhouse and played basketball, so I guess I got a decent workout in.

Back in Orono, my teammates were PR’ing, as Dave Correale set the 800m state leader at 2 flat, and Ben Salinas managed a 2:09. One of the downsides of missing this meet was I missed an opportunity to get in a fast 800m race. Also, Matt McClintock was there and I missed his great 2 mile. The performance of the meet in my opinion though, was Trey Williams’ 52.66 in the 400m dash. Overall though, I’m glad I could get away for a week to prepare for this weekend’s race where I’m probably going to try for sub-10 in the 2 mile. The season may seem like it’s winding down, but it’s not time to start slacking with my training! I hope you all are having a great time preparing for your conference meets and states, best of luck to everyone.
