Thornton Academy Girls & Bonny Eagle Boys tops in SMAA York County

Thornton Academy Girls & Bonny Eagle Boys tune up with wins at SMAA York County Championships

The Thornton Academy girls defended their home turf on Saturday as they won by 95 points over Bonny Eagle. The Trojans were led by wins from Amanda Arnold 100m hurdles & 300m hurdles. They also got a pair wins from freshman Alexandra Pettaway in the triple jump & 100m, & a win in the 800m from Charlotte Pierce.

For runner-up Bonny Eagle, they got a strong performance from Audrey Weyand who crossed the finish first in the 200m & 400m as well as win in the 4x400. The other winner for the Scopts came from Sierra Cooper in the pole vault.

Other standout performances came from Abbey Leonardi of Kennebunk who was a double winner 1600m & 3200m. Also Biddeford's Ashley Belanger came way with wins in the shot & discus.

 

On the Boys side it was a close 3 way battle between BE, TA, & Sanford. the Scots the defending Class A outdoor champions showed they will be a team in the mix once again. The Scots got a pair of wins from Kyle Bailey 110m hurdles & 300m hurdles. Additonally Shane Corbett took first place in the discus.

For the runner-up Thornton Academy they claimed a pair of relay victories in the 4x100 & 4x400m. Plus freshman Andrew Smith who was apart of both relays added a win in the long jump.

Sanford got a great effort from Sprinter Dan Webb who won the 200m & 400m, and narrowly missed winning the 100m race. Distance ace Bryant Perkins added wins in the 1600m & 3200m. While the 4x800 relay team got the meet started off with a win too. Nick Wall added a 11-0 clearance to win the vault while Jimmy Chaisson took the 800m race
