Teal Jackson 57.39 highlights PVC Large School Championship

Bangor sweeps PVC Large School Championship, 4 new girls PVC records

 

Record breaking performances were everywhere during the PVC Large School Championship on Friday. In the girls meets, sprinting star Teal Jackson electrific the crowd with a stunning 57.39 performance over 400m, the time broke the league record 58.21 (Danielle Hutchins). To put the time in persceptive the All-time Maine best is a 57.17, Jackson would add 2 more wins 100m & 200m, while adding a 3rd place in the long jump. For her efforts Jackson was named the Outstanding Meet Performer.

 

Other league records went to Denae Johnson of Bangor in the 100m hurdles, Johnson clocked 15.26 which took .01 off her own mark from 2 years ago. Johnson wasn't just satisfied with one record, she smashed the 300m hurdles record later in the meet with a 45.81 clocking (old record from 46.85 from 2004 Katie Andrle-John Bapst). Grace Maclean of Bangor added the 4th league record with a giant leap of 17-7 3/4 in the long jump (old record 17-2 1/4 Emily Capehart-Bangor 2000) she just edged teammate Tiffany Gray who also jumped further than the old record 17-6 1/2. Maclean also added a win in the high jump.

 

Distance runner Aleta Looker of Ellsworth turned in a fine double winning the 1600m (5:19.84) & 800m (2:18.38). In the 400m Kaitlin Saulter (Hermon) finished 2nd but ran a fine 58.34. the mark is a class c leader.

 

On the boys side the Rams of Bangor were led by David Correale who won the tough 400-800 double with a fine time of 51.5 in the 400m  & then a 2:02.19 in the 800m, he also added key legs  in the 4x800 & 4x400, both marks as state #3 marks. The Rams also got a win from Jonathan Stanhope (1600m) 4:33.15

 

Hampden's Andrew Toothaker had a great meet that earned him the Outstanding performer of the meet, Toothaker took the 110m hurdles in a fast 15.93, then came back to finish a narrow 2nd in the 300m hurdles 42.05, he would also come back to win the 200m.

 

Ellsworth's Dan Curts turned in a fine performance in the 3200m as he crossed the finish first in 9:38.86
