Salute to Seniors: Andy Reifman-Packett

Salute to Seniors: Andy Reifman-Packett Mt Ararat HS

What was your most memorable race?

My most memorable race this year would either be my 1600m race at KVACs or 3200m race at States

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?

Cross Country states last year where I placed 2nd, I still think back to that race all the time

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I think I would try to run more over the summer, I don't think I ever did as much running as I should have.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Getting injured this year halfway through cross country and having it hamper the rest of the season then almost completely destroy my indoor season sucked. It also sucked having a back injury during the beginning of outdoor which kept me from doing any really fast speedwork

What will you miss the most?

Nate Mackenzie and Matt Gott. Those kid will do awesome things.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Suck it up and keep running

What advice have your coaches had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

It's all mental. That's something I've had to hear over and over during the last four years, I still haven't learned it completely.

What are your college plans?

I'm going to the College of Saint Rose to study Computer Science. I'll be running Cross Country and Track

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I'd like to thank my awesome team both this year and over the last four years. Nate Mackenzie, Jake Letourneau, Matt Gott, The Bryants, Teddy Burns, all of you guys have been awesome and always made practice bearable

Why do you wear the pink bandana when you race?

I wear the pink bandana for my mom. Freshman year she passed away due to breast cancer and this was my way of honoring her and having her stay part of my life, she always encouraged me to try my hardest and do whatever I wanted.
