The rain from the night before left the course at Twinbrook a little soggy, after 2 races on the course the Class B were up next
With hundrends of spikes tearing up the terrain in the A races, the course was definitely slower in the B boys race as the mud started to accumlate all over the course
The mud and course conditions didn't prove to be a deterrent to Fryeburg senior Silas Eastman who settled into his front running pace and never looked back. Eastman would push the pace early and then back off as he came through 2 miles in a controlled 10:40. Silas would go on to win in 16:47, his wining margin would be 23 seconds.
The race behind Eastman was solid as Cape's Liam Simpson & Peter Doane raced Greely Nate Madeira. Madeira would move ahead of the duo just after mile 2 and run a very strong 3rd mile to easily pull ahead to finish as the runner-up (17:10). Doane would hold off Simpson 17:28-17:31 as they finished 3-4 overall. Braden Becker of Yarmouth rounded out the top 5 in 17:46.
Nick Eaton of York had a very strong day as he crossed the finish line in 6th position, a week ago he was only 10 in the WMC Championship.
Maranacook sophomore Austin Landry continued his improvement with a strong 7th place finish as he cracked the 18 minute barrier (17:55)
Falmouth senior Jay Lesser had one of his best races of his season to place 8th, he was followed by Alec Jordan of York in 9th, while Gardiner's Christian Heath rounded out the top 10 (18:05)
Coming into the meet Falmouth he defending champions were the favorites to win another title as they were coming off a WMC championship the week before. The Yachtsmen decided to rest of one their regular Scott Lambert & held out Josh Simensky as well.
Falmouth established themseleves early in the first mile as they had the team lead. By the 2 mile mark things had changed a bit as Cape Elizabeth had moved up to take the lead. Over the final mile Cape widened the gap as the top 5 either held their positions or moved up.
In the team race Cape Elizabeth was at full strength this week. The Capers behind the 3-4 finish of Doane and Simpson, got strong races from Will Britton(14th), Kyle Kennnedy (18th) & Justin Guerette (27th). They tallied 64 points for the win.
The surprise of the meet was York finishing as the runner-up with 100 points, They got excellent races from Nic Eaton & Alec Jordan up front (6th & 9th). Also helping out the Wildcats was Kyle Morrison (24th), Alex Brockelman (30th) & Mason Finitz (34th).
Falmouth held on for 3rd behind Jay Lesser's top 10 finish, and Bryce Murdick (11th). They also got strong races from usual 6th man Sean Soucy who was their #3 today in 21st, and Iain Kurry placed 28th. Spencer Brown who was in the top 10 early in race faded to 41st.
Expect the Yachtsmen to rebound next week and be right in the mix when they are back at full strength with Cape Elziabeth & Ellsworth battling it out for the Class B state title
Fryeburg Academy was 4th, with Maranacook placing 5th
Also advacing to the state meet was Freeport, Yarmouth & Greely

Despite her size Greely junior Kirsten Sandreuter didn't let the tough conditions get to her mentally. Instead the diminiutive junior cruised over the beat up course to take the Class B Western Maine individual title. Kirstin's time of 19:57 was the 2nd fastest on the day, and 34 seconds in front of second place.
Sandreuter led the field through the first 800, she was followed closely by teammate Eva Bates, Heather Evas of York, Caroline Colan of Maranacook, & Kristina Smith of Poland as they gapped the rest of the field
Just after the mile the gap between Kirstin and the rest of the pack was widening as she powered up the hills. Evans was leading the 2nd pack with the others running single file behind her.
At the 2 Mile the lead continue to ballon for Sandreuter as she was floating along the mud. Colan made a deceisive move during the 2nd mile to break away from the others. Bates was 3rd with a mile to go with Smith in 4th & Evans in 5th
There were no position changes in the final mile for the top 5.
Running a great last mile was Falmouth's Vishva Nalamalapu who moved all the way up to 6th, she was followed by teammate Geneva Waite (7th)
The Yarmouth duo of Caitlin Teare (8th) & Sarah Becker (9th) gave the Clippers a pair of low sticks.
Marancook's Hannah Depres rounded out the top 10 (22:08)
The Yachtsmen of Falmouth ran a smart race throughout and that paid big time dividends in the end. Behind the 6th-7th finish of Nalamalapu & Waite they tallied 66 points, good for a 33 win over the rest of the field. Also running well for Falmouth was Alta Farrell (14th) & Abby Payson (23rd). Madeline Roberts who missed last week due to a fooot issue returned and was the #4 runner today with a 16th place finish
The Clippers of Yarmouth took home the runner-up plaque as they scored 93 to hold off a string challenge from Freeport 107. Yarmouth was led by Caitilin Teare & Sarah Becker (8th & 9th), they also got a strong run out of Ellie Teare (13th)
