New England Boys XC Championship Virtual Meet
MileSplit #5 LaSalle Academy of Rhode Island will be looking to defend their New England Championship and enter as the favorite. The past two weekends they have defeated in state rival Bishop Hendricken capturing Rhode Island class and state titles. A year ago they enter the New England meet as the underdogs to Hendricken then dominated the meet winning by thirty-one points. The Rams had all five scorers among the top eight at the RI All-State meet at Ponaganset with an impressive 15:45 average with a tidy 33 second compression.
Coe-Brown Academy of New Hampshire ranked #20 in the latest poll have dominated the competition in the Granite state. At the Meet of Champions on the racetrack known as "Mine Falls", Coe-Brown averaged 15:44, while placing five finishers among the top twenty-one finishers. They had a 5 man compression of 40 seconds, and all seven within 53 seconds. The Bears traveled to Wickham Park about a month ago where they averaged 16:33 in winning the Wickham Park Invitational.
Bishop Hendricken is always a contender for the New England title, the Hawks are the top program with 12 team titles entering the meet. They will look to pull the upset on Saturday, and reverse what happened a year ago.
Tolland, CT the winner of the Connecticut All-State meet should not be counted out, they will have home course advantage.
Also competing will be Maine #1 Mt Ararat the winner of the Class A meet, while Vermont's top team will be U-32.
