Waterville doubles up taking Class B KVAC titles Derek Veilleux May 31, 2009

Once again the Waterville Purple Panthers took the KVAC Class B titles. On the girls side Waterville tallied 165 points, 65 more than cross town rival Winslow. On the Boys side the Panthers scored 198 to easily outdistanced runner-up Belfast by 87 points. Pacing the Panthers on the girls side was standout Shelby Tuttle won won the 100 hurdles (14.93) in a state best, triple jump (36-1 1/4). Katie Massey took the 100m (13.19), Taylor Frame 800m (2:28.33), Waterville also received wins from all three relay team 4x800 (10:21.16), 4x100 (51.15) & 4x400 (4:17.19). Edward Little Boys/Girls put on dominating performances in winning Class A KVAC titles Derek Veilleux May 31, 2009

The Red Eddies track program showed its dominance over the rest of the KVAC at the conference championship. The girls team scored an unprecdented 282 points, a mind boggling 192 points ahead of runner-up Mt. Ararat. On the boys side of things EL tallied 183-3/4 to defeat rival Lewiston by 80 points.   Individually EL was paced by senior hurdler/jumper Emily Dodge who tallied 38 points, behind wins in the 100m hurdles (15.67), long jump (16-9 1/2) & triple jump (36-3 1/2). Also helping out the Red Eddies cause were wins by Abby Downs, high jump (5-2), Danielle Paul, 1600m (5:22.67), Abby Dunn, racewalk (7:58.79), Jaclyn Masters, Pole vault (9-0), Frankie Lallly , javelin (106-4), Emily Blackwood, discus (100-0), 4x800 relay (10:03.44) & 4x100 relay (51.23), which set a new conference record. Brunswick star sprinter Kristen Slotnick was dominate as usual winning the 100m (12.71), 200m (26.51), 400m (59.92), and anchored her 4x400 team (4:12.66) with a thrilling come from behind anchor leg to set the KVAC record. El also got wins from Josh Clark, pole vault (14-0), Keith Tremblay, racewalk (7:37.83), 4x800m relay (8:17.19), 4x400m relay (3:35.22), 4x100m Relay (45.03). Skowhegan's Garret Nelson captured both the long jump (20-4) & triple jump (42-10.5).
