This week's Run Junkie HS highlights the best of the September 27th weekend including performances from Roy Griak Invitational, Nike Pre-Nationals, Bob Firman Invitational, Stanford Invitational, Bowdoin XC Classic, and McQuaid Invitational.

The Greely girls behind a pair of top ten finishes from Katherine Leggat-Barr (2nd) & Izzy Evans (9th), tallied 103 to finish 18 in front of Harwood, VT. On the boys side, Mitchell Morris of Cape Elizabeth was the top Maine finisher with a 3rd place, 16:30.9 in the small school race, Freeport's Chandler Vincent (6th) & Cape's Kyle Kennedy(10th) also ran well.

The Massabesic girls also dominated competition, claiming 5 of the top 7 spots and scoring 25 points against a Westbrook team that was riddled with sickness. Michael Aboud continued his impressive senior season with a dominating win on an incredibly challenging Windham course Friday afternoon. Aboud led his fellow senior teammates, Andrew Mongiat and Remington Gaetjens to a 1-2-3 finish on route to a 25-47-52 win over Windham and Westbrook.
Several Maine teams will travel across the border to Derryfield park for the 40th Manchester Invitational, check out our virtual meet for the small schools race.

Follow the top overall distance runner in the State of Maine, Bonny Eagle junior Kialeigh Marston as she embarks on her second season of cross-country. Marston was the Class A State Champion last fall in her first xc season, she returns as the heavy favorite to repeat.
The winners of this week's MaineTrackXC Performance of the week after votes from the audience are Katherine Leggat-Barr of Greely & Andrew Levesque of Cony. Leggat-Barr ran 19:28 for 5k on the tough Twin Brook course while Andrew Levesque ran a lifetime best 17:09 @ Medomak Valley

Alana Hadley ran her first 5k at age six and broke 21:00 in the 5k at age nine. In 7th grade, she ran a 17 minute 5k in her first track meet. She began toying with longer races and found even more success in the half and full marathons. Now a professional marathoner, she will compete in the Marathon Olympic Marathon Trials.
Each month, MileSplit will be selecting the top 21 freshmen boys in the nation as part of the Future Stars of XC Team presented by Hoka One One building into the end of the year team to be finalized in early December.
