Performances of the Week: Tiffany Gray & Gorham 4x200
The Maine Running Company Indoor Track Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #3. On the girls side new PVC long jump record holder sophomore Tiffany Gray (Bangor)edged Sarah Perkins of Gorham by two votes to earn top honors. Gray popped off a huge personal best in the long jump 17-4 3/4, the mark broke the PVC league record held by former Brewer standout Jen Puiia by 1/2 foot. Tiffany is ranked #1 in the state in both the LJ & TJ. In the triple she hit a NBIN emerging elite mark of 36-0. On the boys side for the first time a relay team was selected as the winner, the Gorham Boys 4x200 team of Ryan Baillargeon, Austin Bell, Brandon Cushman & Nate Bucknell set a new SMAA open 4x200 record with their state leading clocking on 1:35.22 in the final regular season meet of the SMAA season. Gorham has set the standard high in the 4x200 this season as they also have the fastest Jr. 4x200 & Sr. 4x200 Relay times heading into the Southwesterns in two weeks.

Three USM Athletes Honored by the Little East Conference

GORHAM, Maine -- Junior Molly Carl (York, Maine) was named the Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this winter. Junior Christina Massey (Winslow, Maine) was picked as the Field Athlete of the Week, and freshman Hannah Wiley (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy) was named the Rookie Field Athlete of the Week. Wiley's honor was her fourth of the campaign. (via Southern Maine)
McClintock Maine Gatorade XC ROY
Madison's Matt McClintock has been name the Maine Gatorade XC Runner of the Year for the 2nd year in a row. McClintock a senior from Madison HS went undefeated in the State of Maine in 2011, claiming his 3rd straight Class C XC title, he went on to a 3rd at the NE Championships & a 15th place at the Footlocker National Championships, earning All-American honors.
Alumni Report: College Roundup
MaineTrackXC is pleased to announce a new weekly feature to keep up to date with alumni. The new feature is called "Alumni Report" will feature a recap of all those athletes who competed in Maine during HS & have continued on to compete in College. If the meet results get posted on any Milesplit affiliate site during the week, they will featured in the recap.
Tim Even Named Little East Conference Track Athlete of the Week

GORHAM, Maine – Senior Tim Even (Stoneham, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) of the University of Southern Maine Men's Indoor Track and Field team has been named the Little East Conference Track Athlete of the Week. Even is the fifth Southern Maine athlete to earn weekly honors from the conference this season.. (via Southern Maine)
McClintock hits US#1 for 3k @GBTC Invitational
Matt McClintock running in his first indoor race of his HS career dropped a 8:38.92 for 3k to win the event, and set a new US#1 performance at the distance. Check out other HS action fro the GBTC Invitational

Ladd sets lofty distance goals
Messalonskee senior Harlow Ladd has posted the fastest times in the state in the mile and two-mile run this winter and he would like to go faster. Ladd has established personal bests in both events, running the mile in 4 minutes, 20.54 seconds and the two-mile in 9:35.49. He established his mile time at the Millrose Trials in New York City earlier this month, beating his previous best by four seconds. (via www.onlinesentinel.com)

Four Huskies Win Events As Southern Maine Finishes Third at Bates Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Seniors Ben Manning (Jericho, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union) and Tim Even (Stoneham, Maine/Fryeburg Academy), junior Ryan Storey (Cumberland, Maine/Greely) and sophomore Julian Gazzelloni (Windham, Maine) each won their respective event to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a third place finish at the Bates College Invitational Saturday at the Walter Slovenski Track in Lewiston, Maine. Tiffany Gray 17-4 3/4 & Miguel Caballero 50.98 400m
The PVC meet started at 6:55am on Saturday morning but that didn't stop Tiffany Gray (Bangor) from breaking the 13 year old record long jump record with her 17-4 3/4 jump, the old mark was 17-4 1/4 held by Jen Puiia (Brewer). On the boys side Miguel Caballero (Orono) reclaimed the 400m state leader with a blistering 50.98. Check out more action...

Chelsey Kendrick Blog #2

Track Notebook: Brunswick girls eyeing top spot

The Brunswick girls are undefeated and positioned to make a run at their first state title. After finishing third last year, Coach Dave Delois has a wait-and-see approach, but his girls have leading qualifying times in several events. (via www.pressherald.com)
Durham, Wiley Recognized by the Little East Conference

GORHAM, Maine -- The Little East Conference announced Monday that two members of the University of Southern Maine Huskies women's indoor track and field team, junior Jennifer Durham (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) and freshman Hannah Wiley (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy), have been selected for weekly recognition.(via Southern Maine)
White and Gazzelloni Earn Little East Conference Weekly Honors

GORHAM, Maine – Sophomores John White (Westbrook, Maine/Cheverus) and Julian Gazzelloni (Windham, Maine) each were recognized by the Little East Conference for their outstanding performances this past week. Gazzelloni was named the LEC Track Athlete of the Week, while White was named the LEC Field Athlete of the Week. (via Southern Maine)

The Indoor Track Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #2. On the girls side US#6 ranked 2 Miler Kirstin Sandreuter of Greely edged Sarah Perkins of Gorham by one vote to earn top honors. On the boys sidelast week's runner-up Harlow Ladd behind his US #14 ranked mile was the boys selection. Read more..
New England Rankings: 4th Release
If it seems like Precious Holmes is mentioned in the New England rankings each week, you are right. The Hillhouse (CT) junior continued her increasingly impressive streak with a US#2 time in the 300m (39.09), and a US#1 time in the 600m (1:32.61) at the SCC Coaches Invitational. Both marks are also new state records.
