Foxcroft Boys & Orono Girls tops in the PVC Small school Championship

Orono Girls dominate, Foxcroft boys edge Orono by 3 for PVC Small School titles

The Orono girls dominated the PVC Small School Championship, scoring an impressive 233 points. On the Boys side the meet was much closer as Foxcroft Academy pulled off the win with 135 edging Orono by just 3 points. Check out more.

Orono was paced by Abby Weigang who swept both the 100m hurdles (16.13) & 300m hurdles 49.97, she would add a third individual win with a 9-6 clearance in the pole vault. She would also run a leg on the winning 4x400m relay. Also contributing a pair of win to the team victory was Lily Koffman, who took the 1600m (5:44.52) & 3200m (12:31.83).

Fern Morrison of Foxcroft Academy had a strong day with a 60.92 clocking to win the 400m, the time is the fastest in Class C this year by over a second. Morrison also added a win in the 200m (28.36)

Foxcroft Academy boys took home the team title behind a the meet's outstanding performer Donald Boyer. Boyer won the 110m hurdles (15.16) & 300m hurdles (41.91). He also added a win in the long jump 21-0 1/4 & was second with a 6-0 clearance in the high jump. They also got a pair of wins in the throws from Cody Bjornson, who won the discus (121-4) & shot put (45-2 1/4). Sprinter Ryan Wang had a strong day winning the 400m (52.93), running on the winning 4x100m relay, and a pair of seconds in the 100m & 200m.

David Frederick of Orono set a meet record in the pole vault with a 13-9 clearance. Frederick also added a win in the javelin (143-8).

There were several double winners including Dylan Merchant of Bangor Christian who won the 1600m (4:32.57) & 800m (2:05.18). Theo-Raje Virgo of Washington Academy won the 100m (11.76) & 200m (24.18).
