Salute to Seniors: Lindsey Folsom (Cony HS)

Lindsey Folsom - Cony HS

What was your most memorable races? There were two meets in particular that I will never forget. Both took place this year. The first being the indoor state championship that I no heighted in. It was absolutely heartbreaking at the time. I still get upset thinking about it. Losing that meet took a heavy toll on my mind set. I almost questioned whether all the time I put into the sport was worth it. In the end however I came to my senses and realized that things happen for a reason and it just wasn't my day. The second most memorable meet for me was the outdoor state championship. This meet was especially important to me because it was my last time competing in a high school state championship ever. I also knew after my performance in the indoor season that I had something to prove. Before my third and final attempt at 11-7 I took a moment and thought about how badly I wanted it. After I cleared the bar I had the biggest sense of relief I've ever experienced. It made what happened during the indoor season seem unimportant.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most? Personally I think my biggest high school accomplishment was breaking the KVAC record. At the time I felt frustrated with the heights I had achieved during the season. That meet was a breakthrough for me. I had finally put the pieces of the vault I had been working on together. That win put me in a great mindset heading into the state meet.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school? If I could do it over again I don't think there would be anything I would change. I'm happy with what I have accomplished and have had a blast doing it. If anything I just wish I had met my coach Peter sooner in my high school career.
