Standout 800m Aleta Looker will be a Georgetown Hoya
The state's top 800m runner will be a Georgetown Hoya next fall as Ellsworth's Aleta Looker makes her college choice. Looker ran the second fastest outdoor 800m in Maine state history last spring, 2:14.30 at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. She was the Class B indoor state champion a year ago handing distance standout Bethanie Brown a rare lost on the track in-state.
Aleta also broke the Maine all-time best in the indoor 1000m at the New England Championship last year as she clocked a 2:53.77, that was quick enough for a second place finish. At the New Balance Indoor Nationals she placed 16th overall running a personal best 2:14.22 for 800m.
Why Georgetown? "Georgetown was one of the first schools to show interest in me last outdoor season and I was completely blown away on the visit. I know I will be pushed to my limits there to discover my full potential - while enjoying the support from such a strongly supportive team atmosphere. It will be an entirely new experience in Washington D.C too!"- Looker said about choosing Georgetown.
