State Champion spotlight: Trever Gray Waterville

Waterville junior Trever Gray won his first individual state title on Monday as he captured the Class B shot put title with a heave of 52-2 1/4. We caught up with Trever to ask him a few questions about his preparation before the meet, as well as what was going through his mind on meet day, as well as what we can look forward to in the outdoor season from Gray.


What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?

While preparing for the state meet we worked on the front half of the rotation. A big trap people fall into is throwing too many times leading up to states. We really focused on staying relaxed.


How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?
