Orono sweeps Lee Academy Invitational
Butterfield & Tardy take individual titles
Interview: Orono girls top 5
The #1 ranked Orono Red Riot girls swept the top 5 en route to a perfect score of 15. Tia Tardy claimed her second victory in as many tries and she crossed the finish line first in 16:00, she was followed closely by Hannah Steelman (16:04) & Kassidy Dill (16:09).
Camille Kohtala(17:26) & Olivia Fandel (17:44) rounded out the top 5. Rylee Warman of Houlton was the first non-maroon jersey to cross the finish, she finished with a 18:03 effort. She was followed Liza Gallandt of Orono (18:29). Taylor Reed of Houlton finished in 8th, followed by Vanessa Twombly & Kyleigh Oliver of Mattanawcook Academy.

On the boys side it was a neck and neck battle for the individual title between Tristan Butterfield of Orono and Isaiah Brown of Houlton that came down to 300 meter sprint. Butterfield, used his 1:59 800m speed from the track to get the edge as he took the win in 14:15 with Brown one second back in 14:16 for the 2.5 mile course.
Orono who is currently ranked #4 in the state had the next 4 spots with Matt Kersey (14:41), Lowell Ruck (14:42), Jonny Spencer (14:46) & Will O'Neal (14:50). The pack time of 35 seconds for runners 1-5 makes the Red Riots dangerous.
