5. Sam Russ (Lincoln Academy)
Sam Russ of Lincoln Academy had a strong first year campaign that saw him finish second in the freshman race at the Festival of Champions, running his fastest time of the season 17:24.26. Russ was strong in the postseason as well finishing 9th in the KVAC B race, and qualifying for the Class B state meet with a 17th place effort. Unfortunately Russ was unable to finish his state meet race, but look for him to be one of the top runners in Class B next fall.
