Southwesterns SMAA Girls Champions


The SMAA Southwestern girls meet was exciting and produced several top performances, including four new league records. Below we have the podium shots of most events (If you have Jr HJ, Sr TJ, Sprint Medley, & Jr 4x200m please send them to Dveilleux@milesplit.us)



Marshwood girls took the 4x800m relay with a time of 10:19.48, they came in seeded with an 11:01.19. The time for the Hawks has them ranked #2 in the state & Class A.

Emily Turner of Cheverus ran a spectacular 600yd as she broke 1:30 with her winning effort of 1:29.85



Nyagoa Bayak of Westbrook entered as the #6 seed at 14-6, she won the Jr Long Jump with a leap of 15-5 1/2.

Cheverus junior Emily Turner took the senior long jump with a leap of 16-4.



Nina Tasker dominated the Jr Hurdles as she has all year, as she raced to a seasonal best, and Class A leading 8.84.


Callie O'Brien of South Portland ran a personal best 8.90 to win the Sr Hurdles, her time has her ranked #3 in Class A.


Ella Altidor of Portland smoked her own Jr 55m record with her winning effort of 7.47.


Elisabeth Redwood of Bonny Eagle easily won in the Sr 55m with a 7.60 effort.


It was all Anna Slager of Gorham in the Mile as the sophomore set the pace en route to a 5:29.55 winning pace.


Kiersten Hilton of Westbrook jumped a personal best 9-9 to win the Pole Vault.


Juliana Selser of South Portland came from behind to win the Jr 400m race, her winning time was 60.95.


Elisabeth Redwood of Bonny Eagle won the Sr 400m, and in the process ran the fastest ever 400m in state indoor history with her record breaking run of 57.52.


Hannah Abbott of Cheverus was the winner in the Jr Shot Put with a heave of 33-2 3/4.


In the Sr Shot Put, Thornton Academy's Samantha Curran took the victory with a 38-11 3/4 effort.


It was a record breaking effort from Noelle Boudreau of Thornton Academy in the Jr Triple Jump, where she jumped 33-2 1/4 to break the league record.


Anna Slager of Gorham, doubled back from the mile to win the Jr 800m, her winning time was 2:34.57


In the Sr 800m, Natalie DuBois ran 2:29.72 as she powered away from the field over the last 200m.


Ella Alitdor was up to her record breaking ways in Jr 200m, as she crushed another personal best with her winning time of 26.76.


It was a photo finish in the Sr 200m, as Elisabeth Redwood of Bonny Eagle & Emily Turner of Cheverus were both timed in 26.10, Redwood was given the nod in the final results. The time is the fastest in the state this winter.


Cheverus won the Open 4x200m relay with a great anchor leg from Sarah Mount, the Stags winning effort was 1:53.57.

Westbrook's Tim Even won the SMAA's Girls Coach of Year for the third year in a row.
