Tardy sub 5, Orono girls & Brewer boys win EMITL Titles

The Brewer Boys won the EMITL title by 25.5 points over Hampden Academy. The Witches were led by senior Erik Seekins who won the high jump with a clearance of 6-0, the long jump with a leap of 20-5 1/2, and was the runner-up in the 400m with a 51.87.

Austin Lufkin once again dominated the shot put as his winning throw got out to 53-0 1/2, he'll enter the Class A state meet as the favorite to capture the title.

Hampden Academy's Paul Casavant was chosen as the Outstanding Performer of the meet as he won the Mile (4:35), the 800m (2:01.80), & the 2 Mile (9:54.95).Casavant a junior wasn't pushed in any of the races.

Ryan Bender of MDI had a strong meet as the senior clocked a state leading 6.70 in the 55m prelims, before coming back to take the final in 6.72. He also won the 400m in 51.39, before coming back to run 23.27 for second place in the 200m.

Troy Crawford of Old Town ran a Class B leading 23.17, that mark was also a facility record breaking his own mark of 23.26 from a week ago.
