Dall & McGrail take individual titles, while Lincoln Academy boys & Maranacook girls bring home team titles

The start of the KVAC XC Championship didn't go as plan for Maranacook's Molly McGrail.
"I got boxed out at the start." She commented after the race "I knew I could make it up throughout the race."
Make it up she did.
The freshman continued to move up throughout the race as she finished third overall, and was the first Class B runner to cross the line. Her winning effort of 20:40 was her second fastest 5k of the season, she ran 20:27 on the much faster Belfast course at Festival of Champions
McGrail didn't let the fact she was in her first championship race affect her, "I was really hoping I could win, I was feeling pretty confident."
Camden Hill's senior Emma Trapani was just six seconds back of McGrail as she finished as the runner-up with a 20:46 clocking.
Waterville's Cecilia Morin finished third as the senior clocked a 21:16.90. She was followed by Maranacook's Laura Parent who finished in 21:23.50.
Rounding out the top five individuals was sophomore Sydney McCarren of Morse who crossed the line at 21:42.
The Black Bears of Maranacook behind individual champion McGrail dominated the team competition as they tallied 45 points. Camden Hills finished second with 63, while Morse edged Waterville 76-77 for third.
Maranacook got had three of the first six finishers, McGrail (1st), Parent (4th) and Maddie Taylor (6th). Also in the scoring top 5 was freshman Caroline Welch (15th) & Lily Welch (20th).

Waterville's Nick Dall cruised to the kVAC Class B title on Saturday at Cony High School.
The sophomore clocked a winning effort of 17:14.5 which was 37 seconds better than runner-up Sam Russ's effort. Dall ran with the top Class A kids for most of the race as his effort placed him 7th overall.
Dall will be one of the favorite to win the Class B Regional next weekend, "I'm looking to run sub 16 next week up at Belfast."
Lincoln Academy's Sam Russ was the runner-up as he finished in 17:51.3, he was followed by Maranacook senior Ruslan Reiter who crossed the finish line at 18:07.9.
Caleb Love-Webb a senior from Camden Hills placed 4th with his 18:19.5 effort, while Leavitt senior Jason Labbe rounded out the top five at 18:28. Labbe's improvement from a year ago is impressive, he clocked a 23:14.60 a year ago.
The upstart Lincoln Academy boys had another fine team performance as the Saucony Flo50 #6 team placed 4 runners in the top 10 to cruise to the team title with just 38 points. Maranacook was the runner-up with 87 while Camden Hills rounded out the top three with 103 points.
