Elsewhere in Florida, Miramar (FL) High senior Jamal Walton went 45.42 seconds in the 400m at the Miami Hurricanes Invitational on Friday, setting a new US No. 1 time at the distance.
It marked Walton's third fastest time in the quarter-mile in his career all-time, sitting just behind his 44.99 effort from the Pan American Junior Championships and his 45.05 from the world championships last summer. Both of those efforts are within the top-four fastest times of high school history in the 400m.
Walton ran 46.57 in the preliminaries. His finals effort marks one of the fastest times in March ever.
