First Olympic Trials, Koch will compete in 800m first round at 4:45pm on 7/1

What a tremendous sophomore year former Washburn High School star Carsyn Koch had at Cedarville University. Koch finished her track year with a pair of Division National 800m titles, a new indoor national 800m record, the fastest time ever run by a D2 female at 800m outdoors, & the Olympic Trials qualifying standard.

Carysn who entered Cedarville as a freshman last year with a personal best of 2:21.30 run her junior year. She quickly showed her talent with her runner-up finish in the D2 outdoor national meet with her 2:05.21 performance.

Koch would run 2:05.12 to win the indoor D2 National title in March, that time was fastest ever run in the national meet.

Fast forward May 1st at the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford University where Koch ran a personal best 2:02.39, that time broke the D2 all time best for 800m, and more importantly gave Koch's the Olympic Trials qualifying time.

Carsyn would go on to win the outdoor D2 800m national title running 2:03.48 back on May 28th.

Koch hasn't raced since the National Championship so it will be interesting to see how sharp she will be after a month away from the oval.

Koch told a group of about 100 supporters that gathered at Cedarville to send her off that her goal was to make it to the second round.
