First Olympic Trials will compete in 800m first round on 7/1 at 4:15pm.

Isaiah Harris had quite a memorable freshman year at Penn State. The true freshman qualified for both the indoor & outdoor nationals in the 800m, earning All-American honors in the latter via his fourth place finish.

Isaiah's run at the NCAA's in the final was the best race he had in a year full of excellent performances. The 1:45.76 effort gave Harris an automatic spot in the Olympic Trials, and also the Olympic "A" standard.

Harris won the BG10 indoor 800m title in 1:46.24, a new conference record. He repeated as 800m champion outdoors running 1:46.21.

His progression from 1:49.63 in high school to 1:45.76 in just one year is amazing but not unexpected. Harris didn't have the training partners in high school, nor the level of competition. Combined that with superior talent, and running year round and Penn State has it's next 800m star.

We asked Harris about his goal for the weekend, "Make the finals."

Don't be surprised if he does just that in his first Olympic Trials.
